• Recycling Part 3 of 3

Finally I’ve gotten around to typing up part 3, which is the easiest part of my little Essay about Recycling..

So you’ve saved and sorted a pile of stuff thats recycleable, What do you do with it?

There are many things you can do, some are cheap, most are free.. you will have to cope with the fact that the odds are you will get nothing in return for your hard work.

In Lincoln NE, we for a while were taking our recycling to a local grocery store (Russ’s Market) and dropping the items in special recycling bins they have behind the store. This is free, and while we don’t get anything for it, it was nice to see how much wasn’t going to end up in a landfill. Since then we’ve gotten a cheap service to pick up our recycling for about $6 a month, the local newspaper comes and picks up a bin and drops another off.

In Nashville the process can be easier. http://www.nashville.gov/recycle/recycle.htm If you reside in the “Urban Services District” and have your trash picked up by Metro Works (using the brown trashcans.. ) You can have your recycling picked up as well..

    All for free.

I hope you enjoyed.. or at least READ my little 3 part post(s) about recycling.. It won’t take much of your time and it might just save the planet. When you have companies like McDonalds producing enough waste to fill the empire state building every day it’s up to every single one of us to do our part to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
