If you are under a rock, you might not have heard, but last week Harold “Skipper” Phillips died, it was sudden and a shock to everyone.
Funeral Info (From Kelly via Facebook)
Uncle Skipper will be at the Anderson and Garrett Funeral home in Joelton from 3p-8p. He then will be at the Scottsboro Baptist Church for viewing from 8a-11a and then the funeral starts at 11a. He will be buried at the Parker and Randall cemetary right by our house.
Thank you for all of your kind words and prayers. We really appreaciate it
You have to see the link above.. it explains the situation with the economy.. and what will have to happen in order to fix the fix we are in.
We take ATM machines for granted.. I know not many of us has to to use them anymore, seeing as they are all about cash in a society that accepts your debit or credit card everywhere.. But latley there has been talk about people attaching devices to ATM machines to steal your PIN and your CC information.. and you might think this is all bunk.. but there are pictures to back it up..
My Advice:
Doesn’t matter where you are, LOOK at the atm before you plop your card in it.
Gizmodo.com gives this list for spotting an “altered atm”
• Ill-fitted card slots
• More than one mirror (some actually may have two mirrors)
• Suspicious lighting
• Unusual ATM error messages
• Difficulty inserting or removing your ATM card.
• If there are other ATMs around, compare them side-to-side, if one of them looks unusual, it’s time to pull out your cameras.
Take photos of them in—camouflaged (or not) on the ATM—and then e-mail them to us at tips@gizmodo.com with the subject line “Card Skimmer Beatdown.” Please don’t forget to contact the authorities/bank managers before you leave. In the war between card skimmers and Gizmodo readers, it’s time to fight back.
If you find an ATM with a device attached, call the bank who operates it, it’s their job to maintain that device and they are in some way responsible for any loss you sustain because of it.
What happens if you’ve been scammed already? If your worried change your PIN and get a new a card… check your bank and dispute charges.. Odds are if they get you, they won’t milk you dry, they might just take a little from everyone they skim.. so noone notices.
Examples?

Finally I’ve gotten around to typing up part 3, which is the easiest part of my little Essay about Recycling..
So you’ve saved and sorted a pile of stuff thats recycleable, What do you do with it?
There are many things you can do, some are cheap, most are free.. you will have to cope with the fact that the odds are you will get nothing in return for your hard work.
In Lincoln NE, we for a while were taking our recycling to a local grocery store (Russ’s Market) and dropping the items in special recycling bins they have behind the store. This is free, and while we don’t get anything for it, it was nice to see how much wasn’t going to end up in a landfill. Since then we’ve gotten a cheap service to pick up our recycling for about $6 a month, the local newspaper comes and picks up a bin and drops another off.
In Nashville the process can be easier. http://www.nashville.gov/recycle/recycle.htm If you reside in the “Urban Services District” and have your trash picked up by Metro Works (using the brown trashcans.. ) You can have your recycling picked up as well..
All for free.
I hope you enjoyed.. or at least READ my little 3 part post(s) about recycling.. It won’t take much of your time and it might just save the planet. When you have companies like McDonalds producing enough waste to fill the empire state building every day it’s up to every single one of us to do our part to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

If you want to start recycling your going to have to consider whats involved, if your going to drop off your recycling, you may be able to sort it when you get there.. even if you have quite a bit of it to sort through.
How to Get Started
First lets tackle the Why you need to do this:
Recycling is an industry that doesn’t make a ton of money, some items just can’t be made from recycled product, some food containers can’t contain plastics that have been recycled from items that once contained food.. so sorting is key, also.. processing is also key.

Possibly my whole adult life I’ve been at least wanting to recycle.. trying to find ways to do it.. occasionally making efforts, usually falling behind on promises I’d made to myself to keep recycling..
Due in large part to my soon to be wifey.. I’ve been able to succeed in Recycling.
I thought I’d share what I’ve learned, and how I do things with you my family.. in hopes that maybe.. just maybe.. you will do the same as I have and start recycling.
I’m going to discuss this in 3 parts.. Why it’s important to Recycle, How to Sort it, and Where it goes.
